May 21st is a very important date around here. For starters it is this handsome little guy’s birthday:
He turns one today. I can’t believe how fast time flies. They grow so quick. (Tear) Cain is such a blessing to our family and I cannot imagine life without him. I am forever grateful for him and I am so glad I get to be his aunt. He is such a fun boy with an amazing personality. So full of life and joy!
Something else really cool happened on the day Cain was born. I got really sick. I woke up and immediately began dry heaving into the nearest toilet, and that can only mean one thing…
I found out I was pregnant on May 21, 2014. It was a giant shock to us. Alex came home from work to find me sitting on the couch with a “gift” for him on the table. He opened the little box to find a positive pregnancy test. I can honestly say it was the last thing he was expecting on this day one year ago.
While Ruthie took us completely by surprise, I couldn’t have planned it any better. It’s just so hard to believe that this was our little family just one year ago.
Eleanor was just barely walking. Alex and I were just really settling into life as parents. And now look at us…
I know I talk so much about being tired, not getting enough sleep, and feeling like a desperate housewife. But truly I am so blessed. I am the lucky one that gets to do all this. That gets to be “mommy” even at two o’clock in the morning. Today is a special day to me. It is Ruthie’s “gotcha day” and I’m excited to celebrate with my little family of four tonight. And then next weekend I will get to celebrate Cain’s big day in Missouri. So much fun to look forward to!
