Happy Valentine’s Day!
I used to be a romantic, but life is in the way. This year all I asked for was a meal I didn’t have to make. And it is truthfully all I want. So our plans include putting the girls to bed early, opening a bottle of wine and eating snacks that we plan to collect at Trader Joe’s tomorrow morning. I know it doesn’t sound exciting but I just don’t have it in me to make an effort. My poor husband.
Admittedly I may be making this holiday more about the girls than Alex. I remember my mom buying us little treats for Valentine’s Day, even when I was in college. So this year I started with Eleanor. I bought her a mini mailbox and every day Alex and I leave her little love letters and treats. She gets excited when she finds something new even if it is just a pair of socks or $1 necklace from Target.
When it comes to the girls I am all about celebrating the holidays, even if not for Alex and me. I love to dress them up and make a big deal out of everything. It gives us something to fill our days with.
And aren’t they just the cutest in their matching shirts. I accidentally bought them too big so I’m thinking they may work for next year too if I can keep them clean.
How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day this year? While I am fully enjoying this stage of life and keeping things low key, someday I will look forward to big, romantic plans with my hubby again.
